Best Boardwalks Itinerary
FROM WASHINGTON D.C. AND BALTIMORE
These are boardwalks we visit often, so instead of providing an itinerary for a day trip of them all I have provided the driving times from downtown D.C. and downtown Baltimore to each destination. Hope that’s helpful!
From D.C. to:
SERC…………………………..60 minutes
Chesapeake Railway Trail…..60 minutes
Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary..45 minutes
Patuxent River Park……………..50 minutes
Battle Creek Cypress Swamp..70 minutes
From Baltimore to:
SERC…………………………………50 minutes
Chesapeake Railway Trail……70 minutes
Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary..65 minutes
Patuxent River Park……………70 minutes
Battle Creek Cypress Swamp..90 minutes

CONSIDERATIONS
Not all of these places are open on days you would expect, like Sundays. Check their website just to make sure you don’t get there and find it closed.
Accessiblilty – the only boardwalk that was handicapped accessible is the Chesapeake Railway Trail, the others are not. None require too much effort but there are steps, and narrow rocky trails.
Fees – of the boardwalks mentioned, only Jug Bay requires a parking fee. But that gets you inside the visitors center which is quite interesting.
